Chris Carrillo, fourth-year head coach of the Rattlers, said he’s looking forward to a season filled with success.
“We have a group of young men who are extremely motivated and posses the characteristics that is needed in becoming champions. They have prepared themselves both mentally and physically to tackle the challenges of the upcoming spring season,” said Carrillo.
Carrillo and his third-year assistant, Travis Richter, define their club this year as a team that is talented in the fact that they do the little things right. “If our club continues to do the little things right the big things will take care of themselves. I think we can look for the Rattlers to be a strong defensive team along with a pitching staff that will attack the zone.
Carrillo said that the team’s starting pitching and solid defense is going to keep the Rattlers in ball game and give the team a chance to win.
“Offensively we are going to have a lineup that is very unselfish. They have developed the offensive mentality of being in the lineup for their teammates not for their personal stats. Look for the Rattlers to be a team that forces their opponents to throw strikes and a team that executes the bunt game. We are also a team that takes a lot of pride in base-running, which allows us to apply pressure to our opponent’s defense,” said Carrillo.
