OCEANOGRAPHY NRE 251

COURSE DESCRIPTION

This course provides an overview of the major events in the evolution of the Earth’s ocean(s) including physical, chemical, and biogenic evolution. We will explore the scientific evidence and techniques used to reconstruct this history. Emphasis will be placed on the scientific method, how ocean floor processes are used to interpret ocean floor morphology, and the effects of Earth’s ever- changing oceans on currents and global climate. This course includes laboratory experience.
