Biography
Steve Simpson has spent most of his life in the shadow of Long’s Peak. He was born and raised in Loveland, graduated from CSU, and then moved to Longmont where he was involved in over 70 productions with the Longmont Theatre Company as actor, director, producer, and/or designer. He has also acted and directed in Oklahoma and Florida, founding theatre troupes for senior adults at universities in both states. His passion is community theatre – he sits on the Board of Directors for the Colorado Community Theatre Coalition, currently serving as vice president. As Director of Theatre at OJC, Steve honors the legacy of his predecessor and mentor at Otero, Ed Stafford. Steve and his wife, Velma, say that La Junta reminds them of Loveland when they were growing up there. For relaxation and inspiration, Steve sings, plays guitar, and writes roots music.
