Founded in 1941, Otero Junior College is located on an attractive 40-acre campus on the southern edge of La Junta, Colorado.
Otero Junior College is proud of its reputation as one of the finest community colleges in the State of Colorado. Students enroll at OJC for a variety of reasons including completing the first two years of a four-year degree, acquiring an occupational education skill leading to employment, or perhaps personal development. Our students represent a diverse population, with an enrollment of approximately 1,600 students at the college, our student body consists of traditional as well as non-traditional students, international students, and students from a wide range of ethnic backgrounds. Over 97 percent of Otero Junior College students are employed upon graduation or go on to continue their education at 4-year colleges or universities. OJC students rank at the top academically for all Colorado community college students after they graduate and transfer to 4-year colleges or universities.
Supported by state tax dollars, tuition at OJC is affordable. Many students attending OJC qualify for financial assistance in the form of scholarships, grants, student loans and on-campus work-study jobs. OJC is a full-service campus with modern dorms, library, classrooms and state-of-the-art technology.
The college sponsors over a dozen student organizations including a nationally awarded Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society and an International Relations organization that celebrates and promotes cultural diversity on the campus. The OJC Rattlers varsity athletic programs include Women’s Volleyball, Basketball, Softball, and Golf. Men’s varsity sports include Basketball, Baseball, and Golf.

Otero Junior College Degree Emphasis
Within two years, students at OJC can earn degrees in Associate of Arts, Associate of Science, Associate of Applied Science or Associate of General Studies. Agreements with all Colorado public 4-year colleges and universities enable a smooth academic transfer for students to apply their credits toward a 4-year degree.
