Women's Rattler Basketball
Meet the 2016 - 2017 Lady Rattlers
As the 2016 school year begins, the Otero Junior College Women’s Basketball look to begin a new chapter in the strong tradition that the program has achieved over the past decade. After finishing 3rd in the Region IX South, first year Head Coach Taylor Shaffer is hoping that this year’s team can improve on last year’s finish. The Rattlers will be looking quite different as new players look to full the key roles left vacant by last year’s sophomore heavy team. “Although we only return three players from last year’s team, I am excited to see what this year has in store for our team. We were lucky enough to add three transfers to join our returning sophomores and bring experience to our young team, and I believe that we have a few freshman who are picking up on what we are trying to do quickly and will be able to contribute right away” said first year head coach Taylor Shaffer. “It is too early to tell what kind of year we will have, but we continue to work on building the principles that our program is about and improving every day. We are committed to developing a winning culture that is centered around a team-first attitude, toughness, and doing things the right way both on and off of the court. If we continue to get better every day and focus on the right things I believe we will have a chance to make some noise in the highly competitive Region IX” said Shaffer.
