The Unwanted Neighbor

The warm beams of sunlight were outlining the rustling leaves of the tall poplars. Fresh air crept in softly through the open window. As I stretched in my old, lime-green recliner, I contemplated on my master plan. I knew that my plan had to be flawless—no mistake—and I knew “he” had to go, no matter the cost (ever since he moved in next door my life has been a disaster.). I remember his intrusion like it was yesterday. The day was a lovely spring day and I was relaxing on my front porch reading a book,, just enjoying the day. Then my tranquil world was shattered by the sound of a moving van. The air that day had such a sweet hint of the upcoming summer that I did not realize what lay ahead—little did I know what the van contained. Everyday after that day has been a living hell!

After much remorseful reminiscing, I started to think back to my master plan. This nuisance needs to be eliminated—no question there. But, how to go about it...that is the question…maybe I should just shoot him straight and clean. Yeah! That could work...except that it does not contain the total cruelty he deserves—heartless, yes. There must be another way to rid myself of this pest.

I started to hear my stomach gurgle. Perhaps, if I ate I would think of something. So, I moseyed over to the fridge where I contemplated for an eternity on what to consume. Finally, I decided on leftover steak, so I popped it into the microwave (what a great invention, so complex and yet so simple).
