Taos Dreams

Adobe dwellings
Burn gold in a fiery sunset
Smoky-colored, foreboding
The sacred mountain looms
A silent sentinel
Above the sleeping pueblo
Later stars appeared
I saw coyote loping across father sky
Dragging his blanket
And heard the songs of ancient singers
On the wind
