Take Home
Straw broom sweeps vacant footsteps, an
Old sentinel long perched at locked door.
Dust whispers ‘round curtain-less windows,
Weeds seam green the cracks on walk-floor.
Echoes shared solely by house mice,
Linger lonely their memory tunes.
No photos, no footsteps, no voices
Claim, thirty-two years this was home.
Thirty-two years at the junction,
Two stellar sons travel ‘lone.
Fine friends smile their well wishes
Fine smiles echo back this was home.
