Change in Employment Policy
In accordance with Board Policy 3-10, all new employees and volunteers must submit to a background check prior to being offered a position at OJC. This includes all new full-time and part-time employees. In order to comply with this new policy, it is imperative that no job be offered without clearance from Human Resources that the potential employee has passed the background check. The finalist for any OJC position is required to complete paperwork with Human Resources in order to process the background check. Make sure to allow time for the background checks to be completed during your planning for any new hire. I am anticipating a turn around time of a week unless complications arise during the check itself. Please make sure that during any conversation with any potential employee that it is clear that “no employment offer can be extended until the person has passed the required background check”. You can use this wording when speaking to potential employees. If you have an employee that is a finalist for a position either part-time or full-time, please send them directly to me so we can get the background check process started as soon as possible. |
