The 2011 Rattler Golf program has started and is in full swing. The team will be competing in tournaments every Thursday and Friday in the entire month of April.
Under the direction of third year head coach Melissa Anderson, the team welcomes back one returning player, Scott Monarco, La Junta. Monarco, who was at the top of the leader board for various tournaments during the 2010 season, is expected to only improve during his sophomore season.
Monarco will be joined by three freshmen, all former Colorado high school golf competitors. The freshmen include: Justin Highberger, Fort Morgan; Tim Sutton, Swink and Lane Elliot, Karval.
Coach Anderson stated that she expects Monarco and the talented group of freshmen to create an OJC squad with a lot of depth.
“After a long winter, the Rattlers are ready to start hitting the links across Region IX over the next few weeks. This is a great group of student athletes who work hard every day. They certainly have the dedication and talent to bring the Region IX Championship title to OJC.” said Anderson.
