Sheri DuBois, lead instructor for the OJC Massage Therapy program, is nationally certified through the National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork. She attended the Academy of Natural Healing which is the oldest academy of natural healing in the United States and has been in private practice for the last 11 years.
DuBois currently owns her own massage therapy clinic in La Junta, Total Health. Her massage techniques include, but are not limited to: Anma Shiatsu, Swedish, deep tissue, energy kinesiology, and myofacial release. DuBois holds a professional membership in the Associated Bodywork and Massage Professionals organization (ABMP).
DuBois stated that the program at Otero Junior College has been developed to be very science orientated. "We have purposely created a program that will give students a solid science foundation. As the medical community continues to utilize massage therapists more frequently, it is important that students have the academic background to work in both a healthcare and hospitality environment."
