Donny Ribaudo, Sacramento, Calif., is the new soccer coach for the inaugural OJC Women’s Soccer Team, to launch in the fall of 2012. Ribaudo holds a bachelor’s degree and master’s degree in kinesiology from California State University, Chico.
While attending CSU-Chico, Ribaudo played for the college and was an All CCAA player. He also played for the California Gold in a professional league and was a member of the Chico Rooks team from 2003-2006; winning the USASA National Championship in 2004.
Prior to accepting the OJC position, Ribaudo was an assistant coach at Chico State where his teams made two NCAA tournament appearances, making it to the Elite Eight in 2010 and into the first round in 2011. His teams also won two CCAA North Division titles while he was an assistant coach. For the past four years he has also served as the head soccer coach for the Butte United Soccer Club while teaching kinesiology for CSU Chico.
Ribaudo’s immediate family lives in the Sacramento, Calif. area. In his free time he enjoys outdoor activities, including running and biking. Ribuado said he accepted the position at OJC because of the sense of community on campus and the college’s great tradition of supporting athletics.
“It is my goal to create a competitive environment which develops players athletically, academically and personally,” said Ribaudo. “Our program will be built around teamwork, work ethic, and respect,” he added.
OJC Women’s Soccer Hires Assistant Coach Amanda McMullan
Otero Junior College’s women’s soccer program has hired an assistant coach. Amanda McMullan, Golden, has been hired to be the assistant women’s soccer coach. She will arrive at OJC this month to assist OJC’s Head Women’s Coach Donny Ribuado with recruiting efforts for the team.
Amanda McMullan, Golden, will arrive at OJC in the assistant coaching position with a lengthy resume of soccer experience; ranging from being an accomplished college and semi-pro soccer player, coaching club teams and working in management and marketing for sports organizations. She has recently played on a Division II men’s soccer team, being the only woman in the league.
McMullan earned a bachelor’s degree in marketing from St. Mary’s University in San Antonio, Texas where she was a member of the St. Mary’s women’s soccer team for four years. During her collegiate career she was named to All Conference teams. McMullan went on to earn a master’s degree in management and organizations, specializing in sports and entertainment marketing, from the University of Colorado at Denver.
Prior to accepting to position at OJC, McMullen worked as both a player/manager for the Colorado Force, a semi-pro women’s soccer team, based in Fort Collins. She was also the head coach and assistant manager for the Colorado Ice Soccer Club in Golden.
McMullan has also worked in sports marketing. She helped to market and coach programs at the Bladium Sports and Fitness Club in Denver, worked as a marketing intern for the Golden Goal Sports Complex in Golden and the Texas Football Club in Allen, Texas.
McMullan said she accepted the position at OJC because she was impressed with the close-knit community that OJC provides.
“I really like the atmosphere and the enthusiasm everyone shows throughout the campus. I’m looking forward to being part of such a wonderful program that has such great support and commitment,” said McMullan.
