Rattler Roundup rocks La Junta Rodeo Grounds

Otero Junior College Rodeo program Rattler Roundup was a success! The Rattlers were proud to have a home showcase rodeo for the student body and community on Friday April 14.

The rodeo program was reinstated at Otero in 2009 and competes with in the Central Rocky Mountain region. With only ten regional rodeos, Otero is not able to host a home rodeo. With the help of Student Life, the Agriculture program and the OJC Rodeo program, the Rattler Roundup was established last year.  This was the second annual Rattler Roundup.

“I am so proud of this year’s team and all their hard work.  Producing an entire rodeo is hard and they put their heart and souls into it.  We are so excited for what the future holds for the Rattler Roundup” said Coach Linsay Sumpter.

The Rattlers will be competing this weekend at the Casper College rodeo in Casper, Wyo. They will finish up their season at the University of Wyoming rodeo April 27-29 in Laramie and the College National Finals Rodeo in June.
