OJC Agriculture Open House Enjoyed by All

The Otero Junior College Agriculture and Rodeo Programs teamed up and hosted the La Junta Chamber of Commerce Business After Hours on Thursday, April 13, 2017.  The beautiful spring evening allowed community members from the Arkansas Valley and across the OJC campus to “Discover Agriculture”.

The evening was filled with class projects including feedlot designs, beef anatomy, plant nutrition and identification of feed samples.  The highlight of the evening were not the free hotdogs, but the animals and tractors in the court yard.  The young and young at heart enjoyed petting and seeing the cattle, horses, goats, sheep, puppies, and chicks.

“It was enjoyable to watch as students interact with the community to showcase their area of interest.  They light up as young learn to swing a rope or will not get out of the tractor seat. I hope this is an experience that is remembered for years.” stated Brooke Matthew, OJC Faculty, Agriculture Science Program.
