Families needed to host Russian students this summer

Families are still needed to host Russian students for one month this summer.  The students will attend Otero Junior College in the fall but are arriving early so they can adapt to American culture early.

It is expected the students will arrive around the third week of July and stay with families until they move into the dorms on campus August 19. OJC International student program coordinator Anne Taylor says coming earlier should help students adjust to life in America before classes begin and give them a chance to know a local family.

The American Council for International Education is partnering with OJC to place the students with families.   This international non-profit requires that families to fill out a simple application and chat with a liaison before placement to insure the best experience.

Three students from Russia completed this program with Otero Junior College this year and will returned home this summer.

Contact Anne Taylor in the International Office at OJC for more information or information is available at yearprogram.org. Anne Taylor can be reached at 719-384-6804 or at anne.taylor@ojc.edu.
