Teacher Preparation for Rural Education Program Inquiry Projects

On Dec. 6 students enrolled in the Teacher Preparation for Rural Education Program (T-PREP) at Otero Junior College shared inquiry projects at a symposium held in the college’s Learning Commons. The presentation was part of their final exam process for Fall Semester.

“This event highlights just one of many learning opportunities T-PREP students participate in throughout the residency program. As part of a culminating activity for their classroom field experiences, these projects were designed around questions students identified in their classroom.” said Ellen Schreivogel, UC Denver residency coordinator.

In 2016, Otero Junior College began a partnership with the University of Colorado Denver allowing students to earn a bachelor’s degree in elementary education after they have completed their associate degree at OJC.

To complete the program an Associate of Arts Degree must be earned at OJC. Students will then enroll with the University of Colorado Denver and take education courses, without leaving the OJC campus. Upon successful completion of the program, a bachelor’s degree and Colorado teaching license will be awarded.

Registration is currently open for interested students. To register, or for more information, contact Ellen Schreivogel, at (719) 384-6888 or ellen.schreivogel@ucdenver.edu.
