NTSO Bake Sale to be Held on Feb. 6

The Non Traditional Students Organization (NTSO) will be hosting their annual bake sale on Tuesday, Feb. 6. The bake sale will take place in the Life Science Lobby of Wheeler Hall. It will begin at 7:30 a.m. and they will sell until 12:00 p.m. At 12:00 p.m. the remaining items will be taken to Fort Lyon to be sold. The money raised through the bake sale will help pay for NTSO scholarships and a trip for the NTSO students.

NTSO awards scholarships each semester and provides networking with other non-traditional students every other Tuesday. They plan to award three scholarships for spring 2018 semester. The deadline to apply is Feb. 13, 2018 by 4:00 p.m.

A non-traditional student is someone that is a returning, or transfer student, currently, or formerly married, in a domestic partnership, is parent or guardian, has child(ren) or other dependents, is a military veteran, or works full-time.

According to Shawn Japhet, club sponsor and math and business tutor, NTSO has multiple fundraising events each year including a dunk tank, bake sale, and selling Breast Cancer Awareness items in October. Japhet explained that NTSO is presently collecting hygiene items to be distributed to Fort Lyon Residents and the Arkansas Valley Resource Center. She also outlined some of the upcoming plans of NTSO, which include: visiting the Pueblo Airport Museum and Raptor Center on Mar. 17, 2018 and participating in the Cancer Walk in Jun. 2018.

For more information about the bake sale or on how to apply for the NTSO scholarship contact Shawn Japhet at 719-384-6862.
