Otero Players announce the cast list for their production of Samuel Beckett’s Endgame

Over the course of three nights of auditions, many students, faculty, and community auditioned for the four parts in the upcoming spring production of Samuel Beckett’s Endgame. “I was glad that we had so many people come out and particularly that we have not only a strong cast lined up, but have understudies for each role that will push each actor in their portrayal of the character,” said Cassidy Litle, Otero Players director.

According to Litle, Beckett’s one-act play, aligned with the Theatre of the Absurd, presents four characters that seem both strange and familiar to audiences: while they go about a routine that at times feels like a game and at other times an obligation, the four characters remind audiences of our own routines and habits we adhere to, and at times, try to change.

The cast taking on Beckett’s work consists of both students and community members:

Noah Dohm will portray Hamm, a blind older gentleman that controls the stage and the other characters around him.

Sean Holcomb will enact Clov, a younger man, bound to Hamm as a disgruntled servant.

Sam Willet will take on the role of Nagg, Hamm’s father, who is now old and dependent on his less-than caring son.

Jodyanna Gallegos will portray Nell, Hamm’s mother, who is also old and reliant on Hamm, but quietly encourages Clov from the sidelines.

The production will take place in OJC’s Ed Stafford Theatre. Opening night is Friday, April 13, 2018, at 7:00 p.m. The play will also run on Saturday, April 14, 2018, at 7:00 p.m. and Sunday, April 15, 2018, for a matinee showing at 2:00 p.m. For each showing, doors will open an hour in advance and admission is free.
