OJC’s Volleyball Team is Ready for Another Season

OJC’s volleyball team will once again be led by Head Coach Jordan Willis. The team had an overall record of 16-15 last year and a league record of 6-4. There will be a total of seven returning players and two returning starters. Shelbi Chino and Anouck Van Noord are the returning notable players. Shelbi Chino has 436 total digs and an average 4.0 per set. Anouk Van Noord has 1.27 kills per set and .50 blocks per set. The first home game of the season is on Aug. 31 in the McDivitt Center Gym at 12 p.m.

According to Willis the team was hit hard in the early part of last season with injuries. He explained that they bounced back and were able to finish third in Region IX South. “I’m really proud of last year’s team for overcoming some adversities. I wish last year’s sophomores the best of luck at their new schools.”

Willis explained that couldn’t be more excited for this upcoming season. “With the hard work this current sophomore group put in during the spring, and the influx of new talent that is coming in, I have a great feeling about this season.”

“My goals for this team is for them to work hard, have fun, win Region IX South, and earn a national tournament title,” Willis stated.
