OJC Volleyball Team Ranked Number 19 in the Nation

Otero Junior College’s Volleyball team is off to a great start this season. Head Volleyball Coach Jordan Willis explained that the team’s moto for the year is, faith, fight, finish. He outlined this along with a great group of individuals, who have become a team, as the reason why they are currently 16-1 and ranked number 19 in the nation. “Our moto will carry us through the season and help keep us motivated.”

“It has taken an enormous amount of faith and belief in the early part of the season to accomplish what we are trying to do.” Willis said. “The whole team is on board and has faith in what we are doing. They have fought very hard up to this point, and we will continue to fight, and finish what we started.”

The Lady Rattlers compete in the Region IX South conference which includes: Lamar Community College, McCook Community College, Northeastern Junior College, Trinidad State Junior College, and Western Nebraska Community College. The region is one of the most competitive NJCAA regions in the nation and Otero has consistently been a major competitor. Each year, the Lady Rattlers forge a new standard for those incoming and help them develop into the kind of teammates the Otero Volleyball Program is all about.

“I am incredibly proud of the team so far this season.” Gary Addington, OJC athletic director, said. “This is the best the team has done in recent history ranking number 19 in the nation. OJC’s volleyball team is comprised of a great group of players paired with an excellent coaching staff. This is a fantastic start of the season for the volleyball team. They have worked hard to achieve this accomplishment. They have a lot of season left and I have confidence in their ability to continue their momentum throughout the season.”
