The cost of attendance makes OJC an affordable and attractive choice for students with a variety of goals in different career fields.

It can provide the opportunity you need to strengthen your language skills and build the confidence you need to successfully continue your education in the U.S.

Articulation agreements are in place that allow students successfully completing either an Associate of Arts or Associate of Science degree program to transfer 60 hours of credit at OJC to most public and private institutions in Colorado and program curriculum in specific areas designed for ease to transfer to a four year institution. (Institutions outside of Colorado will often accept our credits for transfer, but there is not an articulation agreement in place to facilitate the transfer.)

OJC is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission and is a member of the North Central Association and the National League of Nursing.

Over 97 percent of OJC students are employed upon graduation or choose to continue their education at four-year colleges or universities.

OJC is a small place where students have the opportunity to get involved on campus in a variety of clubs, special programs and events depending on their interest.

OJC offers students the opportunity to live in the on-campus Residence Hall giving the students an avenue to Meet other students and easy access to on-campus activities and events.

BridgeEnglish Denver

Through the Academic English Program, international students can improve their English language skills, focusing on the academic reading, writing, listening, speaking and critical thinking skills that they will employ in the classroom at Otero Junior College or other institutions throughout Colorado and the U.S. Otero Junior College offers conditional acceptance to students completing the BridgeEnglish program.

IELTS testing administrated by BridgeEnglish is available at Otero Junior College as need dictates.

Global Leadership Program

The purpose of the Global Leadership Program is to provide opportunities for dedicated Mongolian students who desire to study at a progressive, student-centered American college. The vision of the program is to develop leaders who are prepared to compete in the rapidly globalizing world and are committed to devote their professional lives towards the future development of Mongolia. The selection process is highly competitive and selected candidates will be granted scholarships from U.S. institutions like Otero Junior College where students will begin their U.S. educational journey.  

Activities & Excursions

The International Programs Office offers a variety of activities such as fall and spring excursions to Denver, shopping trips, and transfer trips to area university and colleges. We also work hand in hand with the International Relations Organization to sponsor the International Talent Contest in the fall and International Foods Night in the spring.

Founded in 1941, Otero Junior College is located on an attractive 40-acre campus on the southern edge of La Junta, Colorado. Students can earn degrees in Associate of Arts, Associate of Science, Associate of Applied Science, Associate General Studies or an Associate Degree in Nursing. Over a dozen one– and two-year vocational certificate programs are available.

TRANSFER OF CREDITS. Students successfully completing either an Associate of Arts of Associate of Science degree program will be able to transfer to a Colorado four-year college or university. Otero Junior College’s academic programs have an excellent transfer record with all Colorado colleges and universities.
